Ozone has been used in waste water treatment for limited applications namely, color removal, BOD reduction, COD reduction etc but the applications were limited because Ozone alone is not sufficient to control all parameters of wastewater treatment.
Water treatment chemicals are frequently used in waste water treatment but chemicals are effective in removing insoluble BOD & COD. Soluble BOD & COD needs secondary treatment which is very expensive.
Our waste water treatment systems use electrocoagulation
technology followed by ozone technology to control all parameters of waste water treatment i.e Total
suspended solids, Biological oxygen demand, Chemical oxygen demand, Fats, oils &
grease, heavy metals etc. Electrocoagulation involves dissolution of metal from
the anode with simultaneous formation of hydroxyl ions and hydrogen gas
occurring at the cathode. The electro-coagulation process is based on scientific
principles using strong electric fields to destabilize water contaminants e.g.
suspended solids, heavy metals, colloids, emulsions etc. The destabilized
contaminants can be separated using a clarifier, DAF etc. Electro-coagulation
process uses sacrificial electrodes to introduce metal ions into wastewater
similar to chemical coagulation. The electrical fields also neutralize electric
charge leading to agglomeration. The electro-coagulation process is very
effective on oily emulsions.
Benefits:
- Able to reduce soluble BOD & COD.
- Able to clean tough-to-clean waste water e.g. oily emulsions, high strength ww
etc.
- Effective in plants where waste water characteristics change a lot.
- No offensive odors.
- Dramatic reduction in chemical cost.
- No need to store large amount of chemicals.
- Treated water can be easily recycled.
- Produce less sludge.
